says Peter Schneider to Times Online. “When a client says, ‘Let’s meet’, I say, ‘Pick a Starbucks. They don’t sell coffee here, they sell space.”
Mr Schneider, 57, is part of a growing band of nomadic workers who — equipped with laptops, mobile phones and wi-fi access — are setting up office in coffee shops in Britain. They have been labelled the “new Beduin”.
Not a new idea but one that I certainly subscribe to. I don’t spend long periods of time in coffee shops but it’s just being able to do business ANYWHERE that makes it so exciting. Lots of new ideas coming out of this space at the mo. LLoyd Davis trying to get something moving on the social media cafe and also the (slightly more expensive) opening of One Alfred Place – a weekday club for people to actually do business at.
