Why Job Hoppers Make the Best Employees

in New ways of working, portfolio careers

This is the provocative title of an article by the always provocative Penelope Trunk. We quote Penelope a few times in our book. She is often outrageous on her blogs but almost always there is something to learn from her observations. She contends that job hoppers have more intellectually rewarding careers, more stable careers, are higher performers, more loyal and more emotionally mature. Yet so often we have it drummed into us to stay with a job for a long time – even for life. This is one of the reasons why many of us have been led to portfolio careers – because we get bored easily with the same job. Read it and see what you think.
